Rooted Like a Tree
Tony Voltaggio
My 3rd CD. Starting the return to my roots.
High Flyin' Bird was originally done for a contest. But I liked it so much, I included it here on the CD. An appalachian coal mine song from the late 60's.
Four Days in Paris and Didn't Count on Love are a couple of songs I wrote last year.
St. James Infirmary Blues was one of the first songs I ever played. Although it's origination is from England, it's always had a Louisiana Blues/Jazz feel for me. It brings back some really good memories of me starting out.
Tobacco Road and The Letter were also songs I grew up with and always liked but never really performed. I wanted to give them a little different spin.
Angel of Sorrow came from a tribute concert to John Campbell that I performed in. Campbell was founding member of the band Junction from Corpus Christi, Texas. I joined Junction when John left. Junction continued for many years and was probably the centerpiece of my career.
Hallelujah is one of my favorites. When I researched it, I discovered more verses than what other artists had covered. I did this version to capture the entire song because I think the missing verses are worth hearing.
